The state park service (predictably) responded unenthusiastically to my request to have the performance take place at Aztalan state park. Anybody have ideas about an alternative venue/know a friend with farm land?
edit: Bill seems to believe that the prairie land across from his house will work. so that is the current plan.

Eric: Drums
Brian: Drums
Mike : Drums/percussion
Marshall: Hammond organ/vocal sprinklings
Zach: arrhythmic douchebaggery
Ben: Bass/Guitar
Bill: Guitar
Tudo: Trumpet
Catherine: Violin
Nicholas: Cellular Phone
Anybody else?

Titus Andronicus: "Fear and Loathing in Mahwah, New Jersey"
I just heard this on Pitchfork, I thought it was good. I couldn't find it to download (illeaglely).

Brainstorming
One day I was walking downtown Spartanburg and I noticed that the store front windows on either side of the blood bank are administered by one of the college art galleries. Right now they have just some sparse 4th of July decorations, so I decided that it would be a good space to do some installations. I got approval to do so, but now I'm kind of blank on ideas. Anybody else have any? There are two spaces maybe 14' long and 5' deep and I'd like to get it up in a month.
This might be a good thing for ya'll to pursue in your neck of the woods as well. Think about it.

A call to all the AOTU
Zach, Marshall and I flushed out an idea today about a group project much like the "jam" at the end of nick's grad party show at art haus. Basically we need to assemble as many of us as possible in a field (or a park with electricity), play whatever comes to us for an hour or so, and release it. Then we go back to the same spot each season and record again. So far It looks like we'll have brian, myself and possibly eric on three drum sets, Bill, and possibly joe on strings, marshall on hammond organ, Tudo (from delicious) and tim(?) on trumpet, Zach on whatever Zach can do, Hopefully Nick pre-recorded or live by phone, and anyone else who wants in. Let's see if we can throw this together in the near future.
-edit-
Catherine will also be playing violin

Flying Monkeys
My job can be kind of boring and at times irritating, but then I get a project like this and I realize I'm pretty lucky. I have to make a swarm of flying monkeys for a "wicked" fundraiser we're having in the fall. This is the start of a wing sitting on a block of foamular I'm laminating to make the body. I'll post more pics later.

Also......
I just read that Boris run a record label in Japan named Fangs Anal Satan records. If God were to speak to humans, It would sound like a Japanese person speaking English. It is the perfection of language.

The Winter Beards
I added the surprisingly good Winter Beards song back to out SOTN myspace page http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=39308958
we need to do more this winter.

Strange, but it works
when I opened Nick's S.O.T.N. Logo in Picasa it changed everything to shitty but somewhat wonderful red tones. I'll be using this for our metal releases. Speaking of that..... Mr. Fusion Year one shipping now. Who needs one?

Some local culture
During WWII there was an army camp just outside of Spartanburg (now a nature preserve with unknown amounts of unexploded ordinance scattered among the underbrush). The soldiers stationed there, seeing the distant twinkle of the city lights, nicknamed the town "Sparklecity."

And I thought we were breaking ground with 3 drummers...
on 7/7/07 the Boredoms gathered 77 drummers in Brooklyn for a show. We here at the Nar' are going to have to step our game up.

Southern Movements (not bowel)
As this is the first post from the southern army I thought I (the captain and sole member of this branch of our elite organization) should post some messages (coded for safety of course...not that our army isn't unstoppable anyway) about the anking-flay ovement-may that the outhern-say rmy-ay is making. Unfortunately, I'm slightly confused about our mission and its fucking hot down here and the locals speak some strange dialect which I can make neither heads nor tails of (they seem friendly so far {feeding me strange clear liquids and providing me sustenance in the form of fried balls of bread dough} but I fear that, if reinforcements do not get here soon, they will find out that I am only a man playing a god and may become so angered as to do harm to my body). Please send help or cheese immediately...

I had always wondered who was doing the pushead meets mucha illustrations for several (pig destroyer, darkest hour) recent metal releases. Turns out its one of the members of baroness John Dyer Baizley .

Fusion booklet woes
The Mr. Fusion booklet is done and would have been printed if In-Design wasn't so confusing. Anybody know how to make it print a facing-page saddle stitch booklet? I should have just used scissors and glue.

How to swindle an overbooked, poorly run metal festival
step one: arrive in the small town, in this case Hartland Wisconsin, full of excitement and optimism.
step two: watch your enthusiasm plummet when you find out that the eight hour festival is single entry. meaning NO RE-ENTRY. This means that if you want to step outside the sweat box for air food or a smoke you can't, unless you want to continually re-pay the 17.00 ticket price.
step three. argue pointlessly about the absurdity of this policy with the fifteen-year-olds guarding the door.
step four. complain to your arriving friends about "this bullshit".
step five. realize that by standing next to the entry door you can both see and hear the bands comfortably for free.
step six. when security approaches say "I'm just waiting to go in".
step seven. watch, with glee, three of your favorite bands (hewhocorrupts put it down as usual) while avoiding heatstroke and the swinging fists of tight-panted children.
note: follow Joe and Brian's lead and brown bag MD20/20 for added fun.
enjoy, and try to avoid Robotmoshfest until they come to their senses.
