...everybody's got one

Best and Worst of 2007

Love:
Epicly Later'd

thanks to Nick and Zach I became hopelessly addicted to The Vice mag online tv channel VBS.tv. The site's chock full of amazing programming but for an aging skate nerd Epicly Later'd is pure gold. Speaking of skate nerdary, the Nike and Lakai video's this year were (to quote MMXEKE) Redonkulious.

Juno
Beowulf
Grindhouse
the best movies I saw this year for very different reasons. I would also like to take this opportunity to state that I will never be going to a movie theater again. I simply can not trust the rest of the human race to not fuck up my experience. The last time I went a kid started talking on a cell phone with his outdoor voice. No joke. Hello jank as fuck home theater system.

Music
There have been way to many good records this year, and those of you who know me are aware of my tendency to ramble on at length on the subject. So in place of actual artist shout outs, I'd like to give kudos to the following musical genre's that made it big on my stereo this year.
  • Melodic Scandinavian Death Metal from the 90's
  • Crust punk and D-beat (my bullet belt's in the mail)
  • Anything fronted by an asian woman.
  • Hip Hop artists that sound like chipmunks (thanks Anticon)
  • Hip Hop artists that sound like bears (I was late to the chopped and screwed party)
  • Bears with musical instruments (also known as Vancouver stoner rock or anything on Jagjaguar)
  • European pop stars with questionable vocal abilities
  • The thirty or so amazingly heavy bands from the 60's/70's that were not Black Sabbath or Led Zepplin
  • Dubstep (for the third year running)
  • 90's rock monster revival (Dinosaur Jr., Qui)
Hate:
Comic Sans
worst font ever, those that use it should die.

Project runway
Like when you buy and apple, cause you fucking love apples. And you wait to long to eat it and it's all soft and brown. Seriously.

Spoken word hip hop at its best

Saul Williams has his new album "The Inevitable Rise And Liberation Of Niggy Tardust" for free download at www.niggytardust.com I strongly suggest downloading it.
