Most underrated Musician Ever........Bob Seger

I wish I were joking, but the more I think about it the more I realize that Bob Seger was brilliant. Before he became the fat graying pathetic state-fair fixture he is today, he released a string of consistently amazing albums from the late sixties to early eighties. The early stuff is super rough garage rock, the early seventies output with the Bob Seger system is as good or better than any psych rock album of the time and it's impossible to be a kid from the Midwest and not have a secret love for the silver bullet band years. Now, those of you that know me understand that in a week or so my infatuation will fade, but for tonight, Bob Seger = most underrated artist ever. Show your respects by drinking at inappropriate hours, working on your car, and getting a sweet job with the city parks department.

Thanks Marshall

this is Hocus Pocus by Focus live on some Asian TV show.

edit: not an Asian TV show, just a random show with Asian text scrolling by for no reason.

Born To Late

So metal summer is slowly giving way to thud-rock fall with a slight detour in late 80's thrash crossover revival. This is primarily due to an article in decibel coupled with a wikipedia reading-frenzy. I find my self obsessed with late 60's- to - early 70's drug rock. Why? several reasons.

1.) By listening to Atomic Rooster, Armageddon, and High Tide you can actually HEAR the hippie dream dying months before the hells angels sealed the deal at altamont.
2.) Dust features a pre-Marky Ramone Marc Bell (this reminds me, everyone should participate in nich's project from the last post.)
3.) Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac= Fucking bat- shit lunacy helmed by a future schizophrenic
Lindsey Buckingham era Fleetwood Mac= akin to eating a sensible meal, and going to bed before 10:00pm.
4.) Some benefits of drug use can be simulated by sitting in the dark with headphones on and pressing your eyeballs really hard.
5.) Only era where Anglos could freely sport a big curly "Afro" without it seeming like a marketing tool directed at hip suburban youth.
6.) Total metal cliche, but Lemmy's in like half of the greatest bands ever. also, makes face-obstructing growths "cool"/tolerable to women. (I wad a wart on my nose as a child and was unaware of this)

Ramble.......

A love letter to Joey Ramone.

Hey-I just posted this on my blog but I wanted to make sure that ya'll would get the message especially. Beyond your participation I was hoping somebody might be willing to try to coordinate something in Wisconsin to record people if they don't have a camera (though now that I think about it, everybody has a camera phone nowadays and those do video right?)
Anyways-please help.

"Hi everyone. I would like to enlist your help on a project of mine. I am going to try to put together a tribute video consisting of as many video messages to Joey Ramone as I can get. Won’t you please participate?

I was thinking that you could either speak your message to the camera or simply hold a letter to the screen for a couple of minutes or, you know, if you had another idea-go ahead.

I ‘ll set up a time here to record anybody who wants. Otherwise you can send your video to me @: A Love Letter to Joey Ramone; 149 S. Daniel Morgan Ave. APT A; Spartanburg, SC 29306 or email it to me @: nicholasdowgwillo@gmail.com

Thank you."

My New Single-Speed (Fixies are for people with working knees)

Phase one of my transition to douche-bag hipsterhood is complete. Now all I need to do is start wearing pants intended for 13 year old girls and claiming to hate any bands "new stuff".

Delicious Takes on water....Again

http://www.wrex.com/News/index.php?ID=20435

For the second time the rock river valley has flooded and turned Charles street (home of our beloved Delicious Ink and Lock & Key Gallery) into a river. Marshall has told me that all valuables, including the pieces from the last show were removed well ahead of the storm, but this (once again) severely impacts Delicious, and calls into question the future of Lock & Key in it's current space.

Summer Reading

I had heard of this book before, it's actually where Andrew (from Delicious) took some of his banner images from. The descriptions are almost as good as the tattoos themselves.

Score one U.S.A.

Almost every time I bid on a rare or hard to find hardcore/thrash/grind/power violence record I lose the auction to someone from Japan. Well this time I brought one home to the U.S.A. (start xenophobic-nationalistic-patriotic chanting now). I just received a 1st pressing Spazz/Monster X split that i won on eBay from a seller in Japan. Check out the amazingly Asian stamp and indecipherable shipping label.

St. Mary's Challenger

I've been mysteriously drawn to this freight ship that docks a few blocks from my house. It has this strange pull that implies a long and storied life. I finally got around to reading up on it and sure enough it is special. It's the oldest operational steam ship on the great lakes. I think I'm going to do a series of drawings about it.
